LUKAS DRAKE LUCERO August 9, 1990 – March 18, 2020

Lukas Drake Lucero passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 29.

Lukas was preceded in death by his grandparents LeRoy and Polly Lucero, his uncle Jimmy Lucero, and his great-grandparents Eloy and Rafaelita Trujillo, Luis and Bernadetta Lucero, and Reymundo and Edinera Ortega.

Lukas is survived by his parents Marco and Sandy Lucero, sister Lorinda Nelson and spouse Xavier, former spouse, Ariana Mancino (and the Mancino family), grandmother Cruzita Trujillo, grandfather Faustin Trujillo, Aunt Pam Ortiz and spouse Sam, Aunt Bernadette Gallegos and spouse Carlos, Uncle Leroy Lucero and spouse Sandra, Cousins Dominic, Monica, Andres, and Cruz Gallegos; Andrea Lucero, Abe Sanchez, Ely Dominguez, and Amorette Sanchez;  Sierra Ortiz, Ricardo Salazar, and Lyla Salazar; Derek, Angelique, Alonzo, and Kai Lucero; Melinda Vigil, Samantha and Aiden; Natasha Lucero and Emmit; Amber Lucero, Domanic Bruce, and Mark; his Godparents Frank and Ernestine Rodriguez; numerous cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles; and his beloved rescue dog, Tardis.

Lukas was born and raised in Los Alamos and graduated from Los Alamos High School.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the UNM Anderson School of Business with a minor in law.  He followed his dream and became an entrepreneur of 00 Productions in the movie industry.

He was the most adorable little boy with those big dimples and grew up to be such a handsome young man.  He was very photogenic and known for being a sharp dressed man with Prada shoes.  He was very protective of his loved ones.  He stood up for others when he saw that they were in need. He was gentle with a kind-hearted soul.  Sometimes he could be mischievous but never in a harmful way. He was very outgoing and made friends easily.  He was full of life, adventure, and love.

Lukas enjoyed hunting, hiking, off-roading, camping, snowboarding, golfing, and gathering with friends and family.  He started going to see live Dallas Cowboy games at the age of 2 months and saw numerous games in his life.  In September he had the opportunity to go to a Notre Dame (his favorite college team) vs. UNM football game in Indiana with his dad.  He acquired the talent of welding, painting, and working on cars from his high school teacher, Scott Pomeroy, and his grandfather, Faustin Trujillo. He was known for having his Mustang GT convertible (Black Betty) that his Nana, Cruzita Trujillo, gave him in 6th grade. He enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to travel across the United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Australia, and New Zealand.  He was a restaurant connoisseur and enjoyed a good steak with his favorite … ketchup.  He was very intelligent, had exceptional writing skills, and creatively invented/designed items to make life easier.  He acquired numerous close friends throughout his life. He was very outgoing, charismatic, patient, and kind.  His memory will always live on in our hearts.

The Lucero family asks that all acknowledge the reality and severity of depression (a form of mental illness) and continue to encourage healing of those we know and love.

Honorary Pallbearers are Britney Arviso, Krystle Barth, Scott Berkebile, Beau Brunner, Jeremy Brinsfield, Lief Cocq-Rasmussen, Victoria Dawson, Dominic Gallegos, Taylor Hill, Matthew Lee, Derek Lucero, Alexander Mancino, Dr. Ben Neal, and Brad Ryan.

Due to Covid-19, private visitation, services, and burial will be held at the end of this week in Los Alamos.  A public service will be scheduled in August 2020 for all to attend and celebrate Lukas’ life.  The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Avista cremation and burial in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, Food Depot of Northern New Mexico, or the Animal Humane Society.
